Nomair Basar, DVM
Dr. Basar earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. He later sharpened his clinical skills through an externship with Colorado State University.
Before becoming a veterinarian, he worked as a Veterinary Technician in a busy companion-animal practice, giving him a strong hands-on foundation in patient care and day-to-day clinic life.
His passion for veterinary medicine began back in high school, when volunteering at a local clinic sparked his curiosity for animal biology and his desire to help the people in his community. A supportive mentor helped guide that interest into a future career. During an externship at The PARC, he was inspired by the team’s dedication to compassionate, high-quality care for pets and their people. Joining The PARC as a new graduate felt like the perfect next step.
To Dr. Basar, “People. Animals. Revolutionary Care.” captures what veterinary medicine is all about — pet parents and veterinary teams working together to give animals the best care possible. He especially appreciates that “People” comes first, recognizing the essential role owners play in their pets’ health.
Clinically, he enjoys all types of cases but has a particular interest in oncology, along with the occasional complex internal medicine challenge that requires thoughtful diagnostics and teamwork.
Originally born in Atlanta and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Basar now lives in Frisco with his family. Their beloved cat, Buttercup, passed away three years ago, and they hope to welcome a new feline friend soon. For now, the family enjoys the colorful community of 80–90 guppies in their home aquarium — a project lovingly maintained by his father.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Basar is an avid ice and roller hockey player. He also loves trying new recipes, traveling with friends, and diving into great films. His personal motto is simple: “Let’s get it done.”
