Lauren Cannon, DVM

Dr. Lauren Cannon always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian, even as a child. Her 20-plus years of experience in the field include both the medical side and the business side, though her favorite work is solving complex diagnostic puzzles to get pets well. In July 2020, Dr. Cannon found a work home at The PARC, where she’s thrilled to use her medical knowledge to support the lifelong bond between pets and their people.

Originally from Humble, Texas, Dr. Cannon earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M and then completed the Veterinary Practice Management Program at Purdue University and earned a Veterinary Social Work Certificate at the University of Tennessee. She’s currently also finishing her Master of Business Administration at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Cannon is a member of both the Texas and American Veterinary Medical Associations and of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. When she’s not at The PARC caring for your pets, she’s at home with her own menagerie – including three dogs of varying sizes (from a miniature poodle up to a Great Dane), plus three cats and two horses.

Funniest fact about your pet: My cat, Herbert, likes to bring me “presents” to show me how much he loves me. He will unravel an entire roll of toilet paper and carry it up to my bedroom and then meow at me until I say, “Thank you, Herbert.”

Advice for pet owners: Keep your pet active and fit; it’s the best way I know to keep them happy and pain-free into their golden years.
